For law firms, the recovery of costs is a critical business issue. Partners and Managing Directors want to recover the maximum amount from defendants, yet all too often firms are leaving this vital business issue to fee earners who are more qualified (and interested) in settling cases, not negotiating costs.

Over the last few years, we have conducted extensive research into many areas of the costs industry. We believe this research has given us a unique and informed view of what you want from your costs service. We want to work with our clients to create mutually advantageous relationships and products that best suit your practice, not ours!

Our research has also allowed us to forge relationships with many other service providers to the industry, including ATE and BTE insurers, medical agencies, financial institutions, claims management companies and intermediaries – relationships we are happy to share with our clients should they ask! Even more importantly, we have listened to the needs of a number of law firms, and the overwhelming request is that they want to be certain that professionals are looking after their costs.

We have experience in many areas, but we specialise in just three; commercial litigation, clinical negligence and claimant personal injury costs. We have experience of all levels of cases, from predictable RTAs to multi million pound commercial cases.

We feel that our quality control measures amount to being the service benchmark for the industry:

• Our clients are given the direct telephone and email details of the person who will be dealing with your file, and an acknowledgement email is sent to the fee earner when we receive you file for costing.
• We keep our clients up to date each week by sending by email a report detailing all your cases, what stage they are at and who the file handler is.
• We have worked in partnership with Eclipse Legal Systems to create a bespoke case management system which enables us to quickly and efficiently handle all our cases – from receipt to invoice. The system can also provide accurate management reports direct to our clients.
• All our members of staff are given a comprehensive manual to assist their training programme. This involves familiarity with our case management system, working with clients and understanding relevant case law.
• All staff members are given regular in-house training sessions to keep them up-to-date with the fast moving and sometimes complex world of costs law. Our staff are also encouraged to undertake relevant professional qualifications and continually develop their skills.
